The tittle of this post is a bit tricky I think, because its called “Japanese embroidery”

…hmmm I´m not sure if what I did could be called japanese or even embroidery..hehe

But I sure was inspired by the cute japanese embroidery books out there : )

EL título de este post es un poco curioso , porque se llama “bordado japonés”.

mmmm no estoy segura de que lo que hice se pueda llamar japonés o ni siquiera bordado..jeje

Pero sin duda alguna me inspiré en esos libros tan bonitos de bordado japonés que venden por ahí.

These are the steps I followed…

1.-draw with a pencil a little girl on the linnen fabric.

Éstos son los pasos que seguí:

1.Dibujar con lápiz una niña en la tela de lino

I was inspired by this stamp : )

Me inspiró éste sello : )

2.All I did next was stitch along the pencil line

2.-Lo que hice después fue coser con la puntada más sencilla encima del lápiz.

3.- Sew the little dress on top,..

3.Coser el trocito de tela que será un vestidito encima..

4.-Embroider a ribbon on her hair : )

4. Bordar un lacito en su pelo : )

5.-A small flower and some japanese words..like “konichiwa” ; )

5.-Una pequeña flor y algunas palabras japonesas como “konichiwa”: )

And here´s the result! as you can see,but I think i like it ♥

Y aquí está el resultado! Bastante sencillo como podéis ver,pero creo que me gusta ♥

Ever since I saw this apple cosy on the cover of Mollie Makes, I´ve been wanting to make one! they are so irresistibly cute!

But I dont know how to crochet! not one single bit! So a very dear friend of mine made it for me! ♥

Desde que ví una funda para manzana como ésta en la portada de la revista Mollie Makes he querido hacer una! son irresistiblemente bonitas!

Pero el problema es que no tengo ni idea de hacer ganchillo! Así es que una amiga muy querida la hizo para mí! ♥

There are lots of patterns on the internet on how to make one.

My friend didn´t need it because she said it was very simple.

But here´s the link to the original pattern in case you want to make one : )

En internet hay muchos patrones que te dicen cómo hacerte una.

Mi amiga no lo necesitó porque vió que era un proyecto muy sencillo

What I would recommend is to make a few with different sizes, because not all the apples will fit in the same one.

And if you use different yarn colors, you can have a set of  cosies as cute at these! ♥

Lo que sí  os recomiendo  es que si podéis hagáis varios porque no todas las manzanas tienen el mismo tamaño.

Y si alternáis colores tendréis una serie de “abriguitos” monísimos como éstos ♥

Once finished just add a cute little button! I prefere the wooden ones : )

Una vez listo sólo falta añadirle el botón!   A mí me gustan los de madera : )

Oh I just love how we have the need to embellish everything in life…

Does an apple really need a cosy? not at all but it just looks so cute! ha! ; )

Me encanta cómo los seres humanos tenemos la necesidad de embellecerlo todo ..

¿ Necesita una manzana realmente un abriguito? No.En absoluto.Pero queda TAN mona… ; )

Firts of all forgive me, because todays photos came out so bad.. But I still wanted to show you a little project I did some weeks ago that perhaps you like and want to try : )

Antes que nada, perdonad las fotos de hoy porque salieron tan mal..Pero no he querido dejar de ponerlas porque seguro que os gusta el proyecto que vengo a compartiros y quizá os apetezca intentarlo después : )

It ocurred to me to take a rubber stamp I liked and stamp it on a piece of white cotton fabric and then “embroider” or stitch on top of it.

This is the  result:

Se me ocurrió un día estampar unos sellos de caucho que compré hace tiempo y me gustan mucho sobre un  retal de tela blanca de algodón.

Luego coser encima, siguiendo el dibujo del sello y éste fue el resultado:

Truth be told, i dont know how to embroider, so this flower is made with the simple stitch you use for sewing!

Oh and french knotts I learned how to make them on youtube! They are very easy and fun!

La verdad sea dicha no sé bordar! Esta flor está hecha con la puntada más sencilla de todas que se utilizan para coser!

Los nudos franceses sí que quería aprenderlos, así es que busqué un video en youtube! son muy fáciles y entretenidos!

I just combined four diferent colors of thread to give it interest and contrast and turned the fabric into a pillow.

Combiné cuatro colores diferentes de hilos para dar constraste e interés y convertí la tela de algódón en una funda de almohada.

Later on ,I found out the sale special ink for this purpose!

I really, really love my new pillow cover! It did take time, but it couldnt be easier to “embroider” and I  enjoyed it so much!

Más tarde me enteré que vendían tinta especial para hacer ésto!

Me gusta mucho cómo quedó la funda de almohada! Es cierto que llevó su tiempo, pero no pudo haber sido más fácil de “bordar” y lo disfrute tanto!

I wont be showing you anything “new ” today, because this idea of framing fabric using embroidery hoops is very old, but I hadn´t tried it until now and I love it!

No os enseñaré nada “nuevo” hoy,porque esta idea de enmarcar retales de tela con aros para bordar es muy vieja,pero no la había probado hasta ahora y me encanta!

I used my two last pieces of favorite fabric to hang them on the wall using this method : )

Aproveché los últimos dos trocitos que quedaban de mis telas favoritas para colgarlas de esta forma en la pared : )

A few week ago I stumbled upon this great reversible bag tutorial made by Novita ( who is by the way, an amazing seamstress ) from the blog very purple person

It was exactly what i was looking for! So I decided to give it a try

Hace unas semanas me topé con éste tutorial sobre cómo coser un bolso reversible por Novita ( que es por cierto una costurera maravillosa) ,del blog very purple person.

Era exáctamente lo que estaba buscando , así es que decidí intentarlo : )

I even loved it more because it was reversible! So I chose for this purpose a white and blue cotton check fabric and linen.

Me gustó todavía más por ser reversible! Así es que escogí una tela de cuadritos azules y blancos y lino color crudo.

It was my first time sewing a bag  ( all by my self) and I had so much fun!

I think it took me about three hours to finish the bag. There were I couple of steps I had a hard time figuring out how to solve, but finally I did and It came out so nice : )

Era la primera vez que cosía un bolso yo sola y me divertí mucho!

Creo que me llevó unas tres horas terminarlo. Sí que hubo un par de pasos que me resultaron difíciles,por ser la primera vez,pero una vez resueltos cobraron sentido.

I had a red flower fabric brooch I had made long time ago and I thought it would be perfect for the bag!

Tenía una flor de tela roja que había hecho hacía tiempo y fue un complemento contrastante perfecto para el bolso!

Now I cant wait to sew more! : )

Ahora no puedo esperar a coser más! : )

See the pillow cover below? well, It took me about a year to finish it! LOL Not because it  was difficult to sew, but because I had completely forgotten about it!

I had cut the fabric pieces last april of 2010 and recently found them inside a box. So it was definitely time to sew it up!

¿Véis la funda del cojín de abajo? Pues me tomó un año terminarla! jaja, no porque fuera dificil en realidad, sino porque la había olvidado!

Tenía los cuadraditos de tela cortados desde Abril del 2010 y recientemente los encontré en un caja.!!

They are a mix of japanese cotton and linen fabrics.

Son una mezcla de telas japonesas de algodón y lino.

Many of the fabric squares dont even match! But I still love it : )

I really enjoyed sewing it ( except for the zipper part). In fact I enjoyed it so much that I went ahead and sewed two more for my sons. They chose the fabrics they liked and then I left some white cotton squares for them to paint with fabric markers.

Muchos de los cuadraditos ni siqueira concuerdan,pero no me importa porque aun así me encanta! : )Disfruté mucho cosiéndola  ( a excepción de la parte de la cremallera).

Tanto que me animé e hice otras dos para mis hijos con telas que ellos mismos eligieron y dejando algunos cuadradritos en blanco ,para que con rotuladores de tela dibujasen lo que quisieran : )

My crazy sewing weekend started on a lovely Friday afternoon while I was watching this video of Lotta Jansdotter …

Mi locura de coser este fin de semana horas y horas sin parar, comenzó el Viernes por la tarde. Tranquilamente miraba este video que Lotta Jansdotter hizo para Rowenta y esa fue mi “perdición ” ; )

I loved this video- tutorial  because it explains in a very simple way, how to sew these pot holders or coasters in  patchwork style . The best thing  about it, is that you can use your remnants of fabric from other projects, so its a great way to recycle!  … love the idea! So after who knows how many hours of cutting fabric watching the video,sewing,watching  the video again, and more sewing … this was the result:

Este video-tutorial me encantó porque explica de manera muy  sencilla,cómo coser estos “agarra ollas” estilo patchwork  y aunque está en inglés, se entiende todo muy bien. Lo mejor es que es muy divertido elegir las telas que vas a combinar y que puedas utilizar los trocitos de tela de otros proyectos, aprovechas y reciclas!…todo en esta idea es genial!Por eso quién sabe cuántas horas después de cortar tela, ver el video,coser,ver el video otra vez, y más coser…este fue el resultado:

These were sewn with remants of japanese fabrics, vintage fabrics and my own japanese bunnies! You all know how much I love the japanese aesthetic! so it was very easy for me to concieve pot holders with this in mind! ; )

A friend of mine just celebrated her birthday and of course I wanted to give her something made by hand, so I sewed this little rain cloud with white cotton fabric and turquoise felt for the rain drops

Una amiga mia acaba de celebrar su cumpleaños y por supuesto le quería regalar algo hecho por mí; así es que cosí esta nubecita de lluvia con algodón blanco y fieltro azul-turquesa para las gotas: )

She just had a little baby boy, so this rain cloud will be hanged up in his room : )

Ha tenido un bebito, así es que esta nubecita adornará su habitación : )

I wonder who came up with the first idea of making a cloud mobile..they are all over the internet with different variations, such as the type of fabric or even diferent things hanging from it. You can find some examples here,here and here. and whole lot more on Etsy in case you want to buy one.

It´s very easy to sew and I just love how it looks.♥

Me pregunto quién tuvo la ide por primera vez de hacer un movil de nubecita..Están por todo internet ahora con diferentes variaciones, como el tipo de tela que utilizan, colores o incluso distintas cositas colgando. Podéis ver algunos ejemplos aquí ,aquí y aquí y en Etsy..muchisimos más! en caso de que os apetezca comprar una.

Hello Friends! how was your weekend? how are you?

I wont be able to post everyday, for two weeks! My kids have holidays so we will be spending more time outside and doing more things with them,like crafts! ; )

No podré escribir todos los días durante dos semanas,porque mis hijos ya tienen vacaciones de Pascua  y pasaremos mucho tiempo fuera y haciendo otras cosas, como manualidades ; )

It´s the first plush I´ve sewn since my owls!

Es el primer peluchito que coso desde los buhos!

Since I love so much japanese things ( including their cartoon face expressions)  I made her eyes and nose in that style.

COmo me gustan mucho las cosas japonesas,( inclusive las esxpresiones faciales de los dibujos)hice sus ojos y nariz en ese estilo .

oh..and two red hearts on the back ♥

This little red was made with remnants of fabric, some new some old

I made one for me and one for my sister : )
