To wrap up this week  I want to share with you today some of the works of my favorite artists. They are incredibly talented and inspiring to me. I´m sure you´ll love them too. Just to watch  these for a moment every day ,filles me with energy and joy to start a new project or a new day and think what can I do today that can be creative?

El viernes ya está aquí!

Para terminar esta semana quiero compartir con vosotros algunos de los trabajos de mis artistas favoritos. Tienen tanto talento y me inspiran muchísimo, estoy segura que a vosotros también. Mirar a estos dibujos por un momento cada día me llena de energía y alegría. Me dan ganas de dibujar y comenzar un nuevo proyecto. Necesito “crear” algo por pequeño que sea cada día.

Anoche me acostó a la 1 de la mañana terminando una ballenita a lápiz que espero enseñaros la próxima semana si queréis.

Bueno, pues éstas son para hacer de vuestro día y con suerte fin de semana hermoso e inspirador! nos vemos el Lunes!

Since I spotted Jenny Meilihove´s art about a year ago, I fell in love with her characters. They have a life of their own and are so fun and whimsical! her art is so special! Jenny was born in Russia but moved with her family at the age of 11 to Jerusalem.

Later on she studied art and design, you can clearly see it was her thing : )  She has also published a wonderful book  called “Time has wings” I hope it gets translated to other languages because the illustrations are just amazing!

Jenny is a very versatile artist. She does other things beside painting, like toy sculpting, photography and even stop motion videos you can find at her website. Here, enjoy a small glimpse into Jenny´s art…

Desde que  encontré los dibujos de Jenny  Meilihove hace como un año, me enamoré de sus personajes tan llenos de vida propia. Además de divertidos y tan mágicos. Está claro que su arte es muy especial! Jenny nación en Rusia, pero se trasladó con su familia a la edad de 11 años a Jerusalem.

Más tarde estudió arte y diseño y podéis ver que era lo suyo También ha publicado un libro precioso que se llama “El tiempo tiene ala” que está en inglés. Espero que se llegue a traducir y vender en muchos países porque es uno de esos libros cuyas ilustraciones son realmente preciosas y merecen la pena.

Pero Jenny es una artista muy polifacética que además de pintar, crea muñecos como los que os muestro abajo, saca fotos, e incluso monta vídeos de stop motion que podéis encontrar en su web. Bueno, aquí os dejo una pequeña muestra de su trabajo, disfrutadla!!

Forgive me if todays post has also something to do with my shop. It´s just that I´m very excited about it! I cant describe the feeling of  knowing my dear prints are travelling to so many different parts of the world!

It took me two years to really make it work, and I´m very happy for all that I´ve learned and accomplished. With perseverance and hours and hours of hard work! Thank you for all your support, whether if its buying or just coming here and read my blog, and leaving such encouraging comments you all make my heart sing!

So, I wanted to share with you today the little process of how I make my illustrations in three steps…( I´ve always loved to take a peek into how the artists create)

1.- Be inspired by something! A dream, nature, innocence..As you all know I love nature very much and it was my inspiration for this drawing..

Perdonadme si hoy también hablo de algo que tiene que ver con mi tienda. Pero es que estoy muy emocionada! No tengo palabras para describir la sensación de saber que mis queridas ilustraciones vuelan hacia las casas de personas en partes del mundo tan distintas…Israel, Eslovenia, Australia, Brasil, Estados Unidos..

Me llevo casi dos años hacerla funcionar y estoy muy feliz por todo lo que he aprendido y conseguido. Con perseverancia y muchas, muchas horas de trabajo! Gracias de nuevo por vuestro apoyo, ya sea comprando o leyendo mi blog o dejando comentarios siempre tan alegres y positivos! Hacéis que mi corazón cante!! : D

Así es que hoy quería compartir con vosotros el proceso de cómo hago una ilustración digital en tres pasos..(siempre me ha encantado cuando los artistas comparten el proceso de cómo crean sus obras)

1.- Inspiraros profundamente por algo! un sueño, la naturaleza, la inocencia…COom bien sabéis amo la naturaleza y fue de nuevo mi inspiración para este dibujo..

Primero lo dibujo con un lápiz en una libreta..

I dont have a scanner at home, so I take pictures with my camera and upload them to the computer.

Then I open the file of the sketch on illustrator and draw on top of it with the vectorized brushes.

No tengo un escáner en casa, así es que tomo fotos con mi cámara de mis dibujos, los subo al ordenador y abro el archivo con illustrator.Luego repaso las líneas con los pinceles de vectores.

I suppose this is how every one works..its not a “secret” but I wanted to share the process with you anyway.

Now color it with different layers and finally use photoshop for some details, like the seeds blowing away with the wind.

Supongo que así es la forma en que trabajan todos, o la mayoría..no es ningún “secreto” pero me hacía ilusión compartir el proceso con vosotros : )

Ahora lo coloreo utilizando diferentes capas y termino añadiendo algunos detalles con photoshop, como las semillas que vuelan al viento.

And voila! “Dandelion Dreams” is ready! I still love to blow this little seeds away with the wind, dont you? ; )

Y Voilá! “Sueños de Diente de León” está listo! ..Todavía me encanta cogerlos y ver como las semillas se vuelan con el viento y a tí ; )

Yesterday something very special for me arrived in the mail..my business cards! It took so long for me to order some..First I had to look for an unexpensive printhouse, then come up with a design ( you have no idea how undecided I am ). I was unsure about printing a bunny with a bird and pink hearts ( like the icon of my shop,on the right side of the bar),or this one below, and finally I chosed this one. The black bunny is a new character from my recent illustrations( I´ll show them to you soon).

Well, enough talking, here they are..And btw, its Friday ! yay! ´m going to celebrate my niece´s birthday! how about you? any plans? I wish you beautiful days ahead!!!

Ayer, algo muy especial para mí llegó en el correo..mis tarjetas de visita!  qué alegría me dio abrir el paquete!! y es que me llevó tanto tiempo encargarlas..Primerobuscar una imprenta que fuera económica, luego crear un diseño ( soy muy indecisa). No estaba segura si imprimir unas con un conejito y un pajarito con corazones rosas ( como el conejito del icono de mi tienda, aariba a la derecha), o este de abajo y finalmente me decidí por este conejito negro que es un nuevo personaje de mis más recientes ilustraciones ( pronto os las enseñaré).

Bueno, suficiente hablar, aquí están, vedlas por vosotr@s mism@s..y por cierto, ya es Viernes, bien! Hoy voy a celebrar el sexto cumpleaños de mi sobrina. Y vosotros qué tal? Tenéis algún plan? Os deseo unos días maravillosos!

Algo se está cocinando por aquí y aunque me encantaría contároslo tengo que ser paciente y esperar. Pero son tan bonitos…mmm me pregunto para qué serán estas etiquetas….Queréis adivinarlo? ; )

Esta ilustración es una nueva versión de ésta otra. Es completamente digital y se ve tan distinta de original. Es de mi libro “Pepa y el dragón”. La historia de una pequeña niña-Pepa y su hermano Juan. Están jugando en el bosque cuando de repente aparece un dragón verde que les muestra la magia de la naturaleza. Aquí están “hablando” con el árbol y cuidando de él. Me encantaría ver estas ilustraciones utilizarse para un buen propósito. Quizá como una forma de enseñar a los niños la importancia de la naturaleza. Las donaría gustosa.

Es viernes ya! la semana transcurrió tan deprisa! Gracias por acompañarme! Pasad un buen fin de semana. Estad presentes en cada momento y disfrutad de los sencillos placeres de la vida! Nos vemos el Lunes!

One of the things I love more in life  is nature. I never get tired saying this. There´s nothing that nurtures me more, renovates my spirit.

One of the songs I particullary love  and listen to often is Bonny Portmore from my favourite singer , loreena mackennit. The lyrics and the music couldn´t be more beautiful, touching and inspiring.Makes me even cry when I think of how devastaded our beloved planet is. And how little we do to really help, take action. Our Earth has given us SO much… lets think of ways, of having more  love and gratitude to her and really give some of our time, love, and dedication in return. There are so many ways, we can start doing something. Little acts that really make a difference. Earth Day is not -should not- be just ” a day”, but everyday..

With this button all I pretend is Plant a seed of awareness in our lifes and have present that ” Everyday is Earth Day”.

Hola! Parece que esta semana trata de botones! Pero hoy es el Día de la Tierra y realmente quería hacer éste!

Una de las cosas que amo más en la vida es la naturaleza. Nunca me canso de decirlo. No hay nada que me nutra más, que renueve mi espíritu.

Una de las canciones que amo y que escucho a menudo es Bonny Portmore de mi cantante favorita, Loreena Mckennitt. La letra y la música no podrían ser más bellas, inspiradoras y emotivas. Incluso me hace llorar al pensar en lo devastado que está nuestro planeta y lo poco que hacemos por realmente ayudar, tomar acción. Vivimos egoistamente, pensando en qué más puede darnos en lugar de sentir amor y gratitud y dar algo de nuestro tiempo, amor y cuidados de regreso. Hay tantas maneras de ayudar, pequeños actos que realmente marcan la diferencia. “El día de la Tierra” no debería ser sólo un día…sino todos los días. Salgamos de nosotros mismos y comencemos a dar a nuestra madre Tierra el amor y el cuidado que merece. :  )

Con este botón deseo plantar una semilla de conciencia en nuestras vidas y tener presente que “cada día es el día de la Tierra”

Los comentarios son lo que hace que merezca la pena escribir un blog. Es cuando sabes que ” te leen”. Es cuando la magia ocurre. Cuando las amistades florecen. Los comentarios son lo que le da vida a estos espacios virtuales. Son la cálida chispa humana. Son bien recibidos y muy apreciados. Son como la tierra fértil de pequeñas “Blog plantas” ; ) Las hacen crecer y las guían gentilmente hacia el sol.

A little watercolor I painted yesterday…something simple that came to my mind.

Painting is like a meditation when you flow with it.

You try to put on paper a thought, a mood, a state of mind. The result really doesn´t matter. What´s important is that connection you try to make with your self, and let it come out, express it self.

Una pequeña acuarela que pinté ayer….algo sencillo que me vino a la mente. Pintar es como una meditación cuando fluyes con ello.

Intentas poner en papel un pensamiento, un estado de ánimo, de mente. El resultado en realidad no importa. Lo que es importante es esa conexión que intentas hacer contigo mismo y dejarla que salga, que se exprese.
