Today we´ll decorate an envelope just the same way I would do if I were to write a letter to a friend : )

Hoy nos pondremos manos a la obra a decorar un sobre de la misma manera que lo hago cuando le escribo a una amiga : )

Así es que sin más demora, comencemos!

1.First I used some washi tape in pink and purple for the bottom of the envelope.

It makes it prettier and at the same tame adds “stability” to the drawing of the stamp.

Then I stamped the image of the two girls on the left corner.

1.- Primero pegué varias cintas de washi tape en la parte de abajo del sobre para decorar

y que a la vez haga de “suelo” de los personajes del sellito que estampé a continuación.

The next step is to color the inside of the stamp with the gel pens.

I chosed the same two colors plus a white one to have a nice color palette

El siguiente paso es colorear el sello con los bolis de gel o tinta.

Elegí Rosa y morado.  Y blanco!! Los mismos colores que el washi tape para que el conjunto armonice .

The stickers also add a fun touch. Specially if they have simple designs and bold colors.

In this case they need just to complement and not gain all the attention, as this is focused on the two girls.

Stars, hearts, dots…They are easy to get and very adaptable.

Las pegatinas quedan  también fenomenal. Sobretodo si son de motivos sencillos y colores planos.

Ya que de esta manera sólo van a complementar el resto del diseño y no a robar protagonismo.

Corazones, estrellitas, puntitos de colores. Son pegatinas fáciles de conseguir y muy versátiles.

If you have bought the postal stamp you are going to use , you can do the following thing..

Si tenéis comprado el sello para vuestra carta,podéis hacer lo siguiente..

Stick it and draw around it s imple drawing.

Pegarlo y dibujar alrededor algún motivo sencillo.

And inside the envelope?

We can also add some surprises..

Some inspiring words, a simlpe drawing like a sun  rising, a flower, a bird flying out…are some ideas

Y dentro del sobre?

También ahí podemos utilizarlo para que al abrirlo nuestra amig@ se tope con más sorpresas.

Una frase bonita e inspiradora, un dibujo sencillo, como en este caso un sol “saliendo” desde dentro o una flor, un pájaro..son algunas ideas.

SOme times I even add some glitter!

I thinks its fun! It will surely be messy once the envelope its opened but I´m sure your friends wont mind.

If it makes them smile then thats what this is about : )

Pero ahí no se acaba la cosa! muchas veces meto un poco de purpurina dentro del sobre en los mismos tonos!

Un toqué divertido y espontáneo que le ensuciará el suelo a tu amig@  ,pero que seguro l@ hara sonreir ! : ) y de eso se trata!!!

Washi tape

As you already know, washi tape is one of my favorite tools! Versatile, pretty and one single roll can provide meters and meters of fun ; )

You can find bold colors, animals, flowers, stripes..Not so long ago I dedicated a whole week to washi tape, in case you want to take a look at it : )

L@s que me conocéis sabéis que es de mis materiales favoritos! Vérsátiles, bonitos ..y lo mejor es que un sólo rollito da para muuucho!

Los hay de colores lisos, estampados, con animalitos, florecitas,…Hace tiempo que dediqué una semana al washi tape por si os interesa repasarlo ; )

Gel pens

Any color gel pen will do and they sell them everywhere! The ones above are from the brand Uniball and Staedtler

Bolis

Los que más os gusten. De gel, de tinta..cualquiera vale. Yo creo que en cualquier papelería los venden.

Los que yo utilizo son los de Uni-ball y Staedtler

Cardboard

One single sheet of a colored cardboard can be cut into many many cards. The craft cardboard is my favorite because the colors look so vivid!

The illustration of the flower ( above) was made using  gel pens and wooden colored pencils.

Cartulinas de colores

Una sola hoja da para muchas cartas y tarjetas. Las de papel craft son mis favoritas porque los colores vivos resaltan mucho.

La tarjeta de arriba por ejemplo es un dibujito que pinté con bolis de gel y lápices de colores

Color envelopes

I found a pack of 10 neon pink envelopes at a very cheap store in Spain. Only 60 cents!

I wish I could give you an address where you could find these, but I dont know of any. Still they are very very simple envelopes and I´m sure they wont be hard to find at craft stores .

And if you dont, dont worry! Just gran a sheet of paper of any color of your choice and make your own envelope using as template any envelope you have at home : )

Sobres de colores

Paseando por una tienda de “todo a cien ” (“chino” ) en España, ví éstos sobres de colores rosa neón que me encantaron!

También los había amarillos, verdes, azules..un paquete de 10 por 60 céntimos!

Pero si no los encontráis no os precupéis porque siempre los podéis hacer vosotr@s! Sólo utilizad una hoja de papel del color que os guste y una plantilla de un sobre que tengáis en casa para crear así vuestro sobre.

With so much visual information its sometimes, even hard to “digest”.

Its better to stay with one idea and put it into practice,little things that click your attention .

This is my little version of things I´ve seen related to gift wrapping and the result..: )

Pinterest es una gran fuente de inspiración.quizá incluso demasiado..

Hay tantísima información visual que muchas veces es difícil de asimilar.

Por eso yo me voy quedando con cositas que me gustan, ideas, detalles que pongo en práctica como una manera de ejercitar la creatividad.

Entre tantas ideas para envolver regalos cogí las que más me llamaron la atención…He aquí mi versión y resultado…

I know its not xmas any more, but there are always birthdays around the corner! ; )

Ok, so the first thing I chose was a color theme.pink and gold ♥

Y aunque no sea Navidad, siempre hay cumpleaños cerca,no?

Para empezar elegí dos colores principales : el rosa y el dorado

And gathered all my materials in those tones: ribbon ( thanks to my friend Mari),

golden washi tape,a photo I took some time ago of pink flowers and beautiful japanese paper : )

Y me armé de todos materiales que encontré en esos tonos: cintas ( gracias a mi amiga Mari),

washi tape dorado, una foto mía de flores rosas , y un precioso papel Japonés : )

I made an envelope with tracing paper and  filled it with tiny hearts ♥

Hice un sobrecito con papel cebolla ( o vegetal) y además de la nota que iba dentro, metí corazones ♥

una pequeña etiqueta a juego…

And then I taped the photo to the already wrapped with craft paper gift : )

Then I added this golden ribbon with a cute  tiny, jingle bell : )

Pegué la foto al regalo ya envuelto con washi tape y luego lo adorné con la cinta dorada .Me encanta porque además tiene un pequeño cascabelito : )

And at last but not least an origami crane! It didn´t come out so good,but I´ll keep practising ; )

I think the idea that sums it all up is to define a color scheme, use materials in those colors, add different textures in paper for example and fun touches like the jingle bell…anything your imagination suggests : )

Y por último, una grulla de origami que tengo que decir,no me salió muy bien,pero sigo practicando ; )!

Creo que la idea en resumen para que resulte bonito todo es alegir paleta de color, materiales,

combinar las distintas texturas del papel,añadir toques divertidos, como el cascabel..y bueno..lo que la imaginación sugiera!

I like to write letters to my friends as often as I can.

Sometimes I use conventional envelopes,but in other ocassions I make them my self to give that special personal touch.

Its so simple…here´s a little tutorial for you : )

A mí me gusta escribir mucho a mano.Mando cartas a todas mis amigas siempre que puedo.

A veces utilizo sobres comprados pero en otras ocasiones los hago yo misma cuando quiero darle un toque más personal y especial.

I wasn´t kidding when I said last time I had at least made a dozen of japanese book binding notebooks !

No bromeaba cuando dije la última vez que había hecho al menos una docena de libros con encuadernación japonesa : )

It Really is such a fun and easy project : )

I love stickers!  When I was a little girl I use to collect them.My favorites were the ones that smelled when you scratched them! strawberry, chocolate, bannana…

I dont collect stickers any more,but I do like to have a few for my craft proyects or for sticking them to the letters I send : )

Me encantan las pegatinas! Cuando era pequeña las coleccionaba. Mis favoritas eran las que olían cuando las rascabas! Fresa, chocolate,plátano..

Ya no las colecciono pero me gusta tener unas cuantas para éste tipo de manualidades o para pegar en los sobres de las cartas que envío : )

I would love to design stickers my self!! who knows…maybe one day : )

The last two notebooks above were presents for my tow sons!

They seemed to like them, but now they are just sitting there…I hope they get to use them someday ..soon!

I´ll keep making more! I´ll show them to you soon! and even perhaps I´ll give one away. would you like that? : )

Last weekend we went to buy some pumpkins! There was so much variety!

Whilst my sons bought the most heaviest ones, I preffered the smallest ones I found..They were already looking at me with those cute eyes, so I had to take them home ; )

I like that Halloween its starting to being more celebrated in Spain and other parts of Europe I think its a lovely way to reconnect with its ancestral roots, which come from the Celts : )

Besides carving our pumpkins and dcorating the house we will go trick or treating! SO I´ll tell you all how it went : )

El fin de semana pasado fuimos al mercado de calabazas! Había tanta variedad!

Me encantó y mientras mis hijos se llevaron una calabaza de al menos 15 kilos cada una, yo me decanté por las más pequeñitas

que encontré…^_ ^ Desde el carrito donde estaban todas expuestas ya miraban con esos ojitos ..así es que me las traje a casa : )

Me gusta que la fiesta de halloween vuelva a celebrarse  en España y otras partes de Europa, ya que no es una fiesta americana de hecho, sino una tradición europea ancestral de origen celta.. : )

Nosotros además de carvar calabazas  y decorar la casa, iremos con los niños a pedir dulces por las casas de los vecinos!  Ya os contaré qué tal!

Que paséis un fin de semana de susto! ( lo siento, pero tenía que hacer la broma ,jejeje)

But I dont know how to crochet! not one single bit! So a very dear friend of mine made it for me! ♥

Desde que ví una funda para manzana como ésta en la portada de la revista Mollie Makes he querido hacer una! son irresistiblemente bonitas!

Pero el problema es que no tengo ni idea de hacer ganchillo! Así es que una amiga muy querida la hizo para mí! ♥

My friend didn´t need it because she said it was very simple.

What I would recommend is to make a few with different sizes, because not all the apples will fit in the same one.

And if you use different yarn colors, you can have a set of  cosies as cute at these! ♥

Lo que sí  os recomiendo  es que si podéis hagáis varios porque no todas las manzanas tienen el mismo tamaño.

Y si alternáis colores tendréis una serie de “abriguitos” monísimos como éstos ♥

Once finished just add a cute little button! I prefere the wooden ones : )

Oh I just love how we have the need to embellish everything in life…

Does an apple really need a cosy? not at all but it just looks so cute! ha! ; )

The minute I saw it , I knew I wanted to learn the book binding technique! : )

El fin de semana pasado tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un taller de encuadernación tradicional japonesa en Red Hot Press!

El instante que lo ví anunciado, supe que quería aprender esa técnica de encuadernación!

The workshop ran over for two days and I couldn´t be more happier with it!

El taller duró dos días y no podía haber estado más contenta!

Not only the place was lovely and the teacher! But also to be doing something creative with minded like people! : )

No sólo el lugar era precioso y la profesora simpatiquísima! Sino el hecho de hacer algo creativo con gente con intereses comunes me encantó! : )

I immediatley got hooked with the technique! One of my first books was the one you see above with a

postcard from one of my favorite japanese artists Minako Chiba

When a couple of weeks ago my friend Mayu sent me this package I was completely in awe!

I thought i had seen “everything” that could be done with MT…so her sweet and brilliant idea just got me hooked!

Cuando hace un par de semanas mi amiga Mayu me envió este paquete, quedé boquiabierta!

Pensaba que ya había visto relativamente “todo” lo que se podía hacer con washi tape..así es que su idea tan bonita y dulce me enganchó por completo!

I simply ADORE the washi tape bows!! Cant express how much in fact! : D

Today is my last day in Spain…soon I´ll be flying back to England! I´m anxious to see my sons!! but at the same time a little bit nostalgic to leave behind my friends and my sister and nephews…oh how much I´ll miss them!!

Tomorrow I´ll start blogging regularly! Can´t wait to tell you all about the stamp carving workshop!!

Hoy es mi último día en España..pronto volaré de regreso a Inglaterra! Estoy ansiosa por ver a mis hijos! Pero a la vez un poco nostálgica por dejar atrás a amigas y a mi hermana y sobrinos…cuánto los echaré de menos!!
